Key Challenges Facing Senior Living
The senior living crisis is multifaceted, presenting several significant challenges that we must address to provide adequate care for our aging population.
Approximately 19.8 percent of Sheboygan County residents are aged 65 and older. Projections suggest this will rise to 23.3 percent within five years.
With a 94 percent occupancy rate annually, SSC is at capacity, highlighting the need to expand and serve more seniors in the community.
Today’s seniors require a full spectrum of services, from independent living to advanced care, necessitating adaptable, comprehensive facilities.

Sheboygan Senior Community is committed to addressing the senior living crisis with intentional, resident-centered solutions. The Next Chapter Campaign is designed to expand care, housing, and community spaces, ensuring seniors receive support at every stage of life. We are building not just apartments, but a thriving, connected community.
Phase I: Enhancing Assisted Living Care
Phase I focuses on expanding and upgrading our assisted living facilities to provide enhanced care and comfort for our residents.
Up to 35 new studio and one-bedroom apartments designed for diverse needs and future memory care.
Enhanced community-based residential facility with 24-hour nursing care, spa-like bathing, and a salon, all on a single accessible floor.
Dedicated gathering space with a stage and sound system to support resident and community events.
Three new courtyards with gardens and a welcoming pavilion to encourage outdoor connection.
Phase II: Independent Living Community
Phase II focuses on creating a vibrant independent living community, offering new homes and recreational spaces for active seniors.
58 duplex and single-family homes with barrier-free design for comfortable and accessible living.
Clubhouse with gardens, pickleball courts, and event spaces to foster social engagement and active lifestyles.
Paths linking residents to the broader community to promote wellness.
Scenic trails for residents to enjoy nature and peaceful walks.

1. Campaign Planning and Design
We began by listening to our community, residents, and staff to ensure our expansion meets the evolving needs of Sheboygan County seniors. Every decision, from architectural design to program planning, reflects our mission to provide resident-centered care, connection, and wellness.

2. Phase I: Assisted Living Expansion
We are now in Phase I, focused on expanding and upgrading our assisted living apartments and care facilities. This phase will enhance comfort, community, and care for our residents while providing additional housing for seniors in need.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we have raised $3 million and are ready to break ground to move the project forward. Each contribution brings us closer to creating a thriving, connected campus where seniors can live with dignity, safety, and joy.
