I believe a former teacher of mine, Doris Herbst, is a resident at your facility. If so, I would appreciate it if you would express my thanks to her for her work. Over the years , I have come to reflect on her excellent professional skills and abilities. She taught French in 1969 in a small classrom adjacent to her library as I sat quietly and learned enough of the language to bypass an optometry college language requirement, help a student find medicine for an upset stomach in Belgium and perform part of an eye exam on a high school French teacher (who was undoubtedly somewhat puzzled). Miss Herbst’s standards were high and she showed a demanding presence when needed. I would like to offer her my very belated thanks for her efforts.
